Unit Admin allows you to manage units and unit groups, assign security rights, and edit unit data point settings. Unit groups are also part of reporting when setting up an Extract report. You can perform any of the following tasks when working in Unit Admin:
To access Unit Admin, click Units > Unit Admin and then perform any of the following tasks:
To add a unit group ˆtop of pageˆ
- Click the add icon (+) in the navigation pane.
- Type a name in the Add Group field and then click the add icon (+).
- Click the close icon (–) to close the Add Unit/Group dialog box.
To deactivate a unit group ˆtop of pageˆ
- Click Toggle Active. A Toggle Active window displays with more details on the toggle feature.
- Click the check box(es) next to the name(s) of the unit group(s) to deactivate. A check mark will display in the check box.
- To unselect a unit group, click the check box next to the unit name to remove the check from the check box.
- To select all unit groups, click Select All in the Toggle Active window.
- Click Apply or Cancel to cancel the operation.
To re-activate a unit group ˆtop of pageˆ
- Click Show Inactive in the navigation pane. All inactive unit groups and units display in red italic text in the navigation pane when a check mark appears inside the Show Inactive check box.
- Click Toggle Active. A Toggle Active window displays with more details on the toggle feature.
- Click the check box(es) next to the name(s) of the unit group(s) to re-activate. A check mark will display in the check box.
- To unselect a unit group, click the check box next to the unit name to remove the check from the check box.
- To select all unit groups, click Select All in the Toggle Active window.
- Click Apply or Cancel to cancel the operation.
To delete a unit group ˆtop of pageˆ
- Click the unit group in the navigation pane.
Note: You cannot delete a group at the All Units level.
- Click the Delete From Group link.
- To delete unit group, click the Yes button in the Delete From Group message window. The group is removed from the list of groups.
- To cancel, click the No button in the Delete From Group message window.
To add a unit to a unit group ˆtop of pageˆ
- Select the unit group in the navigation pane.
- Click the add icon (+) in the navigation pane.
- Click the arrow in the Add Unit field and select a unit.
- Click the add icon (+).
- Click the close icon (x) to close the Add Unit/Group dialog box.

- Select the unit group with the unit you want to deactivate in the navigation pane.
- Select the unit you want to deactivate in the navigation pane.

- Click the unit group in the navigation pane.
- Click the unit to be deleted.
- Click the Delete From Group link.
- To delete the unit from the group, click the Yes button in the Delete From Group message window. The unit is removed from the unit group but is still active.
- To cancel, click the No button in the Delete From Group message window.
To add unit/group security rights for a user or user group ˆtop of pageˆ
- Select a unit or unit group in the navigation pane.
- Click the Security tab.
- Click the arrow in the Add User or Add User Group field and select a user or user group.
- Click one or more of the following check boxes to assign security rights:
- View: can view but not edit unit settings.
- Operator: can view settings, send commands to units, but not edit unit settings.
- Admin: can view settings, send commands to units, and edit unit settings.
A security right is assigned or enabled when a check mark appears inside the check box. To unassign or disable a security right, click the check box again to remove the check mark.
- Click the add (plus) icon to add the user or user group.

- Select a unit or unit group in the navigation pane.
- Click the Security tab.
- Click the edit icon (pencil) associated with the user or user group in the Groups & Users.
- Click the View, Operator, or Admin check box(es) to remove the check mark inside the check box(es).
- Click the update icon (diskette) to apply changes or the cancel icon (x) to cancel the operation.
To remove a user or user group with security rights for a unit or unit group ˆtop of pageˆ
- Select a unit or unit group in the navigation pane.
- Click the Security tab.
- Click the delete icon (–) for the user or user group you want to remove security rights.
To change the name of a unit group ˆtop of pageˆ
- Select the unit group in the navigation pane.
- Click the Info tab if it is not active.
- Type a name in the Name field of Group Info.
- Click the update icon (diskette) to apply changes.
To change the name of a unit ˆtop of pageˆ
- Select the unit in the navigation pane. If the unit is in a unit group, select the unit group and then the unit.
- Click the Info tab if it is not active.
- Type a name in the Name field.
- Click Save to apply changes.
To sort units by name, serial number, or type ˆtop of pageˆ
- Click Name to sort units alphabetically by name in the navigation pane.
- Click Serial to sort units numerically by unit serial number in the navigation pane.
- Click Type to sort units alphabetically by unit type in the navigation pane.
