Use the Data Point tab in Unit Admin to edit general unit data point settings that are common to all unit types. General unit data point settings are settings that are not affected by the type or application of the unit. Your user name must be assigned user permissions by your Client Admin to edit unit data point settings.
To display the Data Point tab:
- Click Units > Unit Admin.
- Select a unit and then a data point in the navigation pane.
Note: The Decimal Place setting applies only to analog data points, the Conversion Label setting applies only to digital data points, and the Correction Factor setting applies only to accumulator and Power on Reset data points.
Use the Data Point tab to perform any of the following tasks:
To edit a data point alias ˆtop of pageˆ
- Type a description in the Alias field.
- Click Save to save changes or Reset to cancel changes and return to the last, saved setting.
To edit a data point engineering unit label ˆtop of pageˆ
- Type a description in the Engineering Unit Label field.
- Click Save to save changes or Reset to cancel changes and return to the last, saved setting.
To enable or disable a data point ˆtop of pageˆ
- To enable a data point, click Enabled to place a check mark inside the check box.
- To disable a data point, click Enabled to remove the check mark inside the check box.
- Click Save to save changes or Reset to cancel changes and return to the last, saved setting.
To edit the decimal place in measurement readings (analog only) ˆtop of pageˆ
- Click Decimal Places and select a value in the list of options.
- Click Save to save changes or Reset to cancel changes and return to the last, saved setting.
To edit the conversion label (digital only) ˆtop of pageˆ
- Type a description in the Conversion field that applies to an adjacent field in the Value column.
- Click Save to save changes or Reset to cancel changes and return to the last, saved setting.
To edit the correction factor (accumulator and Power on Reset only)ˆtop of pageˆ
- Enter a numerical value in the Correction Factor field that is greater than zero. Leave this field empty if you do not want to apply a correction factor.
- Click Save to save changes or Reset to cancel changes and return to the last, saved setting.
To add or edit a Value Description (analog only)ˆtop of pageˆ
- Type a number in the first field next to Add Description.
- Type a description of the value in the second field.
- Click Save to save changes or Reset to cancel changes and return to the last, saved setting.
- The value and its description are added in the Value Descriptions table.
