Asset Type Editor allows the Asset Admin to create asset types that will define the properties of the assets as well as how units connect to that asset type (called unit mapping). The Asset Admin must set up asset types before users can manage assets on the Asset Admin page.
Note: You must be assigned the Asset Admin security role to have access to the Assets menus. Refer to Security for more information on security roles.

| Add an asset type |
- Click Assets > Asset Type Editor, select an asset type from the list of unit types, and then click the add icon (+) in the navigation pane.

| Edit an asset type |
- Click Assets > Asset Type Editor and then select an asset type in the navigation pane.
- Make changes as necessary.

| Add, delete, or edit properties for the asset type |
- Click Assets > Asset Type Editor and then select an asset type in the navigation pane.
- Edit, delete, or add a new property for the asset type using the edit icon (pencil), delete icon (-), or Add Property fields.

| Create an installation map |
- Click Assets > Asset Type Editor and then select an asset type in the navigation pane.
- Click the Unit Mapping tab and then click the add icon (+). Add Products and map them to the asset type property's data points.

- Click Assets > Asset Type Editor and then select an asset type in the navigation pane.
- Click the Info tab and then enter a name for the asset type and select an icon that will display next to the asset type name in the navigation pane.
