A unit can be replaced with another unit of the same type using the Replace Unit function found on the Unit Admin page. When you replace a unit, the settings and alerts for the original unit remain the same for the new unit. For ICP, ICP+, or RM4010 units, you will need to resend settings to those units.
The following unit information is transferred from the new unit ("Unit B") to the original unit ("Unit A"):
- MIN or SIM
- ESN
- System Serial
After the replacement, Unit B is associated with the asset and keeps all the historic information collected by Unit A. The following information and settings that were entered and collected by Unit A remain with the asset, which is now installed with Unit B's hardware and radio.
- ID
- Serial
- packets
- alerts, alert conditions, and alert contact destinations
- unit settings
- channel settings (may be out of sync with actual hardware)
- saved location (as entered on the website)
- Bill Plan
- Cost Center
To replace a unit with another, similar unit:
- Click Units > Unit Admin on the Main Menu.
- Select the unit in the navigation tree of Unit Admin.
- Click Replace Unit (above Settings tab).
- In the Select Source Client field, select the group of the new unit.
- Select a unit that will be replacing the current unit from the list shown in the text box, or search for the unit by typing a unit name, ID, type, serial number, or system serial number in the Search field of Select New Unit.
- Click Replace to replace the unit, or to close the window without replacing the unit, click the close (x) button.
- Return to the All Units page. The original unit will now include {ReplacedUnit} in the unit name. When you display the unit settings, the original unit's MIN or SIM, ESN, and System Serial values will be those of the unit that replaced the original unit. Also, the Service Status will be Not Installed.
