Installing USB Driver for Configuring Remote Monitoring Units

To configure your remote monitoring unit, you will need to install the following two applications:

  • Universal Configuration Toolkit (UCT)
  • USB Driver for Windows 7, Vista, XP, or 2000

Both of these applications are available from the installation CD that was shipped with the hardware. They can also be downloaded from the Support Files webpage.

After installing the two applications, connect your remote monitoring unit to your computer via a USB cable. The UCT application should be able to locate your unit, and you will be able to configure the remote monitoring unit for service.

If the UCT application is unable to find your device, the USB driver may not have installed properly. To install the USB driver directly from the executable (.exe) file, follow the steps below:

  1. Open the SI Labs folder on your computer.
  2. Double-click the executable file for the USB drive (for example: CP210x_VCP_Win_XP_S2K3_Vista_7.exe).
  3. Follow the prompts to install the driver.
  4. Open the UCT application again with the remote monitoring unit attached to your computer. The Find Devices window should display your unit name.

For more details on installing the USB driver or the UCT application, refer to the Installation and Configuration Guide that is included on the installation CD.
