Use the Data Point and Settings tabs in Unit Admin to set up ICP analog and digital data points. Buttons in the navigation pane allow you to add unit groups and units and toggle the active state.
To display the navigation pane, Data Point tab, or Settings tab in Unit Admin for an ICP unit:
- Click Units > Unit Admin to display the navigation pane.
- Select an ICP unit group, unit, and then a data point in the navigation pane.
- Click the Data Point or Settings tab.
Use any of the features in the following list to set up an ICP unit in Unit Admin:
- Toggle Active (Unit Admin navigation pane): Click to activate or deactivate a unit group and related units; units and related data points; and one or more data points. The navigation pane hides deactivated unit groups and units except when viewing the All Units group. Deactivated units also continue to trigger alerts and notifications. Refer to Unit Admin help topic for more information.
- Data Point tab:
- Alias: Use the Alias field to enter a user-friendly name for a data point. Enter a description that is meaningful to your company, such as a unique part number or other type of identifier.
- Display As: Analog data points only. Use Output As to identify the output of the data point. Options are As Is (Value as Decoded), Value Converted °C to °F, Value Converted °F to °C, or Descriptions for Values.
- Decimal Places: Analog data point only. Use Decimal Places to identify how many numbers appear after the decimal in measurement readings.
- Offset: Analog only. A decimal number added to the Data Point display value; shown in engineering units. Default is 0.
- State Conversion (Conversion Label): Digital data point only. Use fields in the Conversion column to enter a description for one or more Value fields (labeled ON and OFF). Optionally, select an icon to represent the value, which will be displayed on reports (run time). For example, enter Open for ON, Closed for OFF, or a description typically used by your company.
- Engineering Unit Label: Use this field to identify the unit of measurement for the option selected in the Display As field. For example, if Output As is Volts, type V, VAC, VDC, volts, or a similar description.
- Value Descriptions: Displays code values and their description.
- Add Description: Identifies a code value and description. Enter a description of the code in the second field.
- Save / Reset: Click Save to save settings. Click Reset to cancel changes and return to the last, saved setting.
- Settings tab:
- Enabled (channel): Digital channel data points only (Digital Channel 1-6 > Setting / Channel Setting tab). Click to enable or disable a digital channel for service when sending over-the-air (OTA) commands to the ICP unit. A check mark inside the check box indicates the digital channel is enabled. Click the check box again to remove the check mark and disable the digital channel.
- Enabled (alarm): Digital data point only, Setting / Channel Setting: This field is used in conjunction with the Trigger on field. To have an alert sent based on a contact closure state, click Enabled and then choose a contact closure state in the Trigger on field (such as Low/Closed, Hi/Open, or None).
- Channel In Use: Analog channel data points only (Analog Channel 1-4 > Settings / Analog Channel tab). Click to enable or disable an analog channel for service when sending over-the-air (OTA) commands to the ICP unit. A check mark inside the check box indicates the analog channel is enabled. Click the check box again to remove the check mark and disable the analog channel.
- Engineering Units: Analog data point only. Use this field to identify the data point unit of measurement. For example, enter Volts if the data point is measuring rectifier voltage or Amps if measuring the millivolt drop across a shunt. If the data point is measuring rectifier instant OFF potentials, enter Instant Off, IR Free, or P/S (pipe-to-soil).
- Save / Reset: Click Save to save settings. Click Reset to cancel changes and return to the last, saved setting.
- Send Settings: Click to display the Send Unit Settings window and then click Sync Unit Settings to send settings to the ICP.
- Raw Input High / Raw Input Low: Analog data point only, Scaling & Alarms tab. Scale the data point by entering a value in each field that is within the voltage range of the voltage card specified in the Analog Channel tab.
- Input Voltage Card: Use this field to select the type of voltage card installed in the analog input channel of the ICP.
- Calibration / Offset: Analog data point only, Scaling & Alarms tab. If required, use these optional fields to enter values that scale (adjust) the analog measurement reading. Any value in the Calibration field functions as a multiplier. Any value in the Offset field adds or subtracts from the calibrated measurement reading.
- Engineering Units Max / Engineering Units Min: Analog data point only, Scaling & Alarms tab. Scale the sensor of the asset by entering a value in each field that is within the voltage range supported by the asset.
- Analog Channel alarm enabled on RMU: Analog data point only, Scaling & Alarms tab. Use this check box in conjunction with the High Alarm and/or Low Alarm fields. Click the check box if you want an alert sent when the analog channel is out of limits (measurement reading is higher or lower than High Alarm or Lower Alarm). A check mark inside the check box indicates alerts are enabled for the analog channel. To disable alerts, remove the check mark by clicking the check box again.
- High Alarm: Analog data point only, Scaling & Alarms tab. Use this field in conjunction with the Analog Channel alarm enabled on RMU check box. Enter a value (measurement reading) that triggers a high alarm alert.
- Low Alarm: Analog data point only, Scaling & Alarms tab. Use this field in conjunction with the Analog Channel alarm enabled on RMU check box. Enter a value (measurement reading) that triggers a low alarm alert.
- Channel is routed through isolation device. Analog data point only, Isolation device tab. If the analog channel is routed through the isolation device, click the check box to place a check mark inside the check box.
