ICP+: How to Set Up Unit Data Points

Use the Data Point and Settings tab in Unit Admin to set up ICP+ unit data points. Settings include those for analog, digital, and counter data points.

 

For an overview and field description of the Data Point and Settings tab, refer to ICP+: Data Point Settings Overview.

 

To display the Data Point or Settings tab:

  1. Click All Units in Unit System Status.
  2. Select a unit in the Unit column of All Units View to display Unit Detail.
  3. Click Settings or the pencil icon to display Unit Admin.
  4. Select an analog, digital, or counter data point. For example, click Analog Channel 1 (AnCh1).
  5. The Data Point tab displays on top by default. Click Settings to display the Settings tab.

 

Use the Data Point tab to perform any of the tasks in the following list. Use the Settings tab to edit analog, digital, or counter data point settings and send settings to the ICP+.

 

 

To edit a data point alias ˆtop of pageˆ

  1. Type a description in the Alias field.
  2. Click Save to save changes or Reset to cancel changes and return to the last, saved setting.

 

To edit 'display as' (analog only)ˆtop of pageˆ

  1. Click the arrow in the Display As field and select an option.
  2. If you selected the option Description for Values, set up values with corresponding descriptions in the following manner:
    1. Type a value with a corresponding description in the Add Description fields.
    2. Click the add icon (+) and then repeat steps "a" and "b" as needed.
    3. If you want to edit an entry in Value for Descriptions:
      • Click the edit icon (pencil) and then change the value or corresponding description.
      • Click the save icon (diskette) to save changes or the cancel icon (X).
  3. Click Save to save changes or Reset to cancel changes and return to the last, saved setting.

 

To edit the decimal place in measurement readings (analog only)ˆtop of pageˆ

  1. Click the Data Point tab and then click Decimal Places and select a value in the list of options.
  2. Click Save to save changes or Reset to cancel changes and return to the last, saved setting.

 

To edit the offset that is added to the data point value (analog only) ˆtop of pageˆ

  1. Type a value in the Offset field.
  2. Click Save to save changes or Reset to cancel changes and return to the last, saved setting.

 

To edit a data point conversion label (State Conversions) (digital only)ˆtop of pageˆ

  1. Type a description in the Conversion field that applies to an adjacent field in the Value column.
  2. Select an icon (optional) that will be displayed in the Run Time view (see Run Time).
  3. Click Save to save changes or Reset to cancel changes and return to the last, saved setting.

 

To edit a data point engineering unit label ˆtop of pageˆ

  1. Click the Data Point tab and type a description in the field.
  2. Click Save to save changes or Reset to cancel changes and return to the last, saved setting.

 

To enable or disable a data point (Toggle Active)ˆtop of pageˆ

  1. To disable a data point:
    1. Click a data point in the navigation pane.
    2. Click Toggle Active.
    3. When the Toggle Active message displays, click the check box beside the data point you want to disable.
    4. Click Apply in the Toggle Active message.
  2. To enable a data point:
    1. Click Show Inactive to display all disabled data points. Disabled data points appear as red, italic text.
    2. Click the check box beside the disabled data point you want to enable.
    3. Click Apply in the Toggle Active message.

 

To edit analog data point settingsˆtop of pageˆ

  1. Click the Settings tab if it is not visible.
  2. Click Channel In Use to activate the data point for service.
  3. Type a description in the Engineering Unit field that identifies the data point's unit of measurement.
  4. Click the Voltage Card field and select the type of voltage card installed in the ICP+ input channel.
  5. If the input channel experiences fluctuation in measurement readings due to excessive noise in the analog signal, enter a value from 0.000 to 1.000 in the Filter Value field.
  6. Click Save to save settings or Reset to cancel changes and return to the last, saved settings.
  7. If you want to send settings to the ICP+, see the procedure below (To send settings to the ICP+).

 

To edit digital data point settingsˆtop of pageˆ

  1. Click the Settings tab if it is not visible.
  2. Click Channel In Use to activate the data point for service.
  3. If you want the ICP+ to send an alert based on a contact closure state, follow these steps:
    1. Click Alarm Enabled to place a check mark inside the check box.
    2. Click the Alarm Trigger arrow and choose either High or Low.
  4. Click Save to save settings or Reset to cancel changes and return to the last, save settings.
  5. If you want to send settings to the ICP+, see the procedure below (To send settings to the ICP+).

 

To edit counter data point settingsˆtop of pageˆ

  1. Click the Settings tab if it is not visible.
  2. If you want the ICP+ to send an alert when the accumulated count reaches a certain value, enter the value in the Counter Alarm field.
  3. If you want the ICP+ to reset the counter when the accumulated count reaches a certain value, enter the value in the Counter Rollover Value field.
  4. If you want reports to use a certain date as the base date for calculating the difference in measurement readings, click click the arrow in the Calculated Use Date field and select a date in the calendar.
  5. If you want to send settings to the ICP+, see the next procedure.

 

To send settings to the ICP+ ˆtop of pageˆ

  1. Click the Settings tab if it is not visible.
  2. Click Send Settings.
  3. Review settings when the Send Unit Settings window displays. Highlighted settings indicate those that will be sent to the ICP+
  4. Click Sync Unit Settings to send updated settings.
  5. View the information in the status table to verify settings have been Sent or Delivered to the ICP+.
