BATtxt allows you to interact with the Asset Tracker website using text messaging on your mobile phone. By texting certain BATtxt commands, you can receive information about a unit, its activity and current channel values, as well as turn notifications on and off.
To use BATtxt, users must first verify their profile is set up in the correct format with necessary security rights:
- In Unit Admin, the user must have the right to View, Operate, or Admin the unit. To use the NotifyOn and NotifyOff commands, the user must have Admin rights.
- A valid Text contact or Phone contact must be set up in User Contact Information of My Profile. In the Text field, enter the mobile phone number in a format used for text communications as specified by the provider, typically in the form of 10digitNumber@carrierpostfix.
For example, for an AT&T® mobile phone with text messaging enabled and a number of 555 123 4567, the email address is formatted as follows: 5551234567@txt.att.net.
- Multiple text contact numbers may be added to a user account for others to use BATtxt capabilities, even if individuals do not have access to the web account (such as a contractor). Each point of contact requires its own user profile set up, as indicated earlier in steps 1 and 2.
- Verify the mobile device using BATtxt has text messaging features enabled. Note that though there is no charge from BAT to use this service, the mobile phone service provider may impose fees for sending and/or receiving text messages. In addition, messages to and from BATtxt may be subtracted from a quota-based text messaging plan. If unclear about a mobile phone's text messaging plan, please contact the provider for details. By sending the BATtxt command, you agree that we can send you information pertaining to your request and other related information from time to time.
To use BATtxt on your mobile phone, follow these steps:
- Open a new text message and type the BATtxt number 814 222 0749 in the appropriate field of your mobile device (such as the To or Number field).
- In the body of the text message, type a BATtxt command, a space, and then the unit serial number, client number, or MIN.
Note: the BATtxt commands Help, TechHelp, and HelpRM4010 do not require a serial number, client number, or MIN.
- Send the text message using the appropriate method for your mobile device (such as pressing Send or Go).
The following table provides a description of available BATtxt commands. Commands are not case sensitive when texting.

|
| NotifyOn |

| NotifyOff |
Changes a unit status to Installed (Notifications OFF). This does not disable alerts but prevents notifications from being sent. |
| GetIntStatus |
Returns interruption status. |
| AlwaysOff |
Stops interruption and switches the relay to turn off a rectifier's output. Use Intstart to start interruption again. For use with the RM4010 units. See also Note, below. |
| ClearAlwaysOff |
Clears the AlwaysOff command. For use with the RM4010 units. See also Note, below. |
GetProfile |
Similar to "Profile on demand" command. For use with the RM4010 units. See also Note, below. |
| GetRead |
Similar to "Read on demand" command. A request is sent to units that support the “Read on demand” command. If relevant, a delivery confirmation of the command is sent to the BATtxt user (if the unit supports and can send the confirmation). As a result of the read request, a measurement or similar packet may be sent from the unit. That packet data is not automatically sent to the BATtxt user. Use Data to get the latest data or status of channels. For use with the RM4010 units. See also Note, below. |
| IntStop |
Stops interruption. An initial acknowledgment is sent to the user to verify that the command was sent to the unit. A final confirmation message is sent to the user if the command receives confirmation from the unit or carrier. For use with the RM4010 units. See also Note, below. |
| IntStart |
Starts interruption. Must include the cycle time with the command. For example: intstart 3 1 unit#. An initial acknowledgment is sent to the user to verify that the command was sent to the unit. A final confirmation message is sent to the user if the command receives confirmation from the unit or carrier. For use with the RM4010 units. See also Note, below. |
Note: For the commands IntStop, IntStart, AlwaysOff, ClearAlwaysOff, GetProfile, and GetRead, if the command fails, it will be resent - up to the set number of maximum tries that was set by the user. A text message will be sent to the user after every five (5) failed attempts until the maximum number of retries is reached. If the maximum number of retries is set to less than five (5), no text message will be sent to the user in the event that the command fails.
