An asset is a device or installation owned or operated by a client. Assets connect to one or more channels of a remote monitoring unit (also called RMU or unit). The unit monitors asset properties, such as voltage levels, accumulator counts, register readings, or open/close (high/low) states.

The system monitors and stores data for different types of assets. Examples of an asset include those in the following list:

  • pipeline facilities such as a rectifier, test point, tank, or critical bond
  • electric, gas, or water meter
  • compressor or flow computer
